Sometimes a little blind commitment will take you places you never thought you'd go.

Admittedly my trained audio experience lies in the studio, and as passionate as I feel about field recording, I've been figuring a lot of it out as I go. This working model was exemplified when I pulled into Ohsweken Speedway with a duffle bag full of new recording gear, and a pit in my stomach.

Some context... Recently I'd been hired to d...

A month ago: roommate gets a new Ford Ranger.

A week ago: We take a trip up to northern Ontario to start a new sound-recording adventure:

That's right... Looks like I'm putting together an Off-Roading SFX Library. The goal here is to cover a spectrum of realistic vehicle sounds, as well as enhanced samples made from what I record. Although to be honest, I'm still figuring out what I'm doing out here...

The truth is, I d...

Like many all around the world, Covid-19 has changed my life pretty dramatically.

Since April I've been working exclusively from home. Doing sound design for commercials and TV shows, composing music and engineering remote sessions with Zoom and Source Connect.

What the change has meant to me is less time and energy spent commuting, a more comfortable working environment, and ultimately more time to work on my personal business...

I never thought the bong would make it's way into the studio but what the client asks for, the client gets...

What we learned (and maybe already knew) is that a bong will make dramatically different sounds with and without the... smoking material.

So... what we ended up doing was splitting this up into two recording sessions. One at the studio and another... at home.

I've decided to put out everything we recorde...

Pardon the radio silence lately. Life took over for a bit but I'm happy to bring some new news.

We have two brand new SFX libraries nearing completion:

Introducing the Boxing Collection:

And the Creatures Collection:

Both to be released in spring, 2019. Shoutout to Dan Sadaba from Sadabots for the great artwork. He's been a crucial member of the BPS team. Check out his other work:

In other news... I recently att...

We're back at it again, recording a brand new library full of ready-to-use boxing sound effects.

My friend/bandmate Chris and I joined a boxing gym a couple years ago. Though I've fallen in and out of the sport, Chris has been passionate about it since the beginning. He's the one who actually inspired me to start making this library. Friendship aside, he's become a very proficient boxer and I'm lucky to have him on the team....

Hey folks! Spent last night recording an amazing show at The Horseshoe Tavern. Samantha Martin and The Delta Sugar performed their new album to a sold out crowd (roughly 400 people) and the venue was fired up.

I spent the show right in the middle of that crowd recording the response to every tune. Ended up with ten samples from various parts of the night including a big encore cheer at the end of the show. They're up for free o...

Recording a skateboarding SFX library was an intuitive process because it's a world I know.

I skated pretty hard when I was younger. It's all I ever wanted to do. Every day as soon as school ended, me and my friends would be out there till the sun went down. It's such a liberating sport. You get to do anything you want, your own way. There's no rules. You make your own goals, grow your own style, and no one can tell you if it's...
